Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that his position on the surrender Donbass has not changed. It is known that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin wants to gain control of the region in exchange for any ceasefire, writes Sky News.

At the same time, the Ukrainian leader emphasized that his"position has not changed, because it is based on the Constitution of Ukraine, and the Constitution of Ukraine has not changed."

"Any issues related to the territorial integrity of our country cannot be discussed without taking into account the opinion of our people, the will of our people, and the Constitution of Ukraine," Zelenskyy noted during a press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

Talks about Ukraine's withdrawal from Donbas - what is known

Previously Zelensky spoke about a potential exchange of territories . According to him, Ukraine will not withdraw from Donbas, because our territories are occupied illegally. The head of state emphasized that this territory for the Russians is a"springboard for a future new offensive."

"If we leave Donbas of our own free will, or if we are pressured, we will start a third war. Why? Crimea was one hundred percent a springboard for an offensive against the south of our state. Donbas was one hundred percent a springboard for not sparing Ukrainian citizens, not using our own, not doing any mobilization (sorry for saying that, but it is true), and turning the separatists into the Russian army," Zelensky emphasized.

At the same time, the Institute for the Study of War wrote that Ukraine will lose its"belt of fortresses", which has been holding back the Russian Federation if it withdraws from the Donetsk region. Analysts believe that such a decision would give the Russian army an extremely advantageous position to resume attacks on much more favorable terms, avoiding a protracted struggle for territory.
