The 2nd Army Area updated the fighting situation along the Thai-Cambodian border. They found movement of the PHL-03 missile system in the area of Samrong Airport, Oddar Meanchai Province, and are keeping an eye on cyber threats and infiltration by spies from Cambodia.
On 28 July 2025, it was reported that the 2nd Army Area Operations Center summarized the fighting situation along the Thai-Cambodian border on 28 July 2025 at 12:00 noon as follows
Cambodian side fired BM-21 at several battle lines, especially Hill 677, Phu Phi, Pha Mor E Daeng - Preah Vihear and Phu Makhuea. In addition, there was movement of the PHL-03 missile system in the area of Samrong Airport, Udon Meanchai Province.
We responded in an equal manner according to the threat level, up to and including the use of weapons against strategic targets at Chong Bok, Chong An Ma, Prasat Ta Kwai and Prasat Ta Muen Thom.
Cyber threats – Cambodian hackers were found to have penetrated government systems via CORS/N C D C. Cambodian soldiers were also found laying landmines in frontline areas while we were inspecting the area to deploy our forces.
Major clashes In the areas of Chong An Ma, Phu Phi and Phu Makhuea, heavy clashes occurred between the Thai and Cambodian sides, firing back at P. and K. throughout the night, injuring several people.
Prasat Ta Muen Thom - Prasat Ta Kwai area The Cambodian side is still determined to occupy and try to control the area. There was a continuous gathering and reinforcement of forces from the inner part of Cambodia. In addition, it appeared that the Cambodian side accidentally shot their own side in the Chong An Ma and Pha Mor I Daeng areas, which may have occurred from the arrival of several additional units, resulting in a communication error.
On 27 July 68 at 4:30 p.m., the Thai side returned the bodies of 12 Cambodian deceased who died in the fighting in the Phu Makhuea area back to their homeland in accordance with humanitarian principles.
Future Situation Trends
- Cambodia tends to use long-range weapons in deep areas.
- There is a tendency for the conflict to continue to be severe, especially in the areas of Chong An Ma, Phu Phi, Phu Makhuea, Prasat Ta Muen Thom and Prasat Ta Kwai, including having to watch out for cyber threats and infiltration by Cambodian spies.
Evacuation of people Continuously support provincial government agencies in evacuating people from risk areas to civilian gathering areas in the inner areas of all 4 provinces as follows:
Buriram Province evacuated 1 civilian gathering area, 12,865 people; Surin Province evacuated 92 civilian gathering areas, 48,438 people; Sisaket Province evacuated 187 civilian gathering areas, 38,618 people; and Ubon Ratchathani Province evacuated 68 civilian gathering areas, 19,151 people. Currently, 119,072 people have been evacuated from risk areas into civilian gathering areas (an increase of 12,625 people).
Impact on the people Damaged areas: Ban Sai Tho 8 Tai, Ban Sai Tho 5 Tai, Ban Sai Tho 4 Tai, Chanthaburi Subdistrict, and Ban Sai Tho 1 Nuea, Ban Kruat Subdistrict, Ban Kruat District, Buriram Province, were hit by 28 artillery shells and BM-21s. Residential areas were damaged. Ban Nong Mek, Ban Phum Soron, Sao Thong Chai Subdistrict, Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province, 2 people were injured and 1 person died.
Royal Volunteers:Take care of and help the people by arranging volunteers 904, Royal Volunteers, and volunteers to facilitate the people in temporary shelters and help move belongings. Including helping to publicize useful information for the public to be informed in the area of 4 provinces, namely Buriram, Surin, Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani and 904 volunteers from the Royal Volunteer Centers in neighboring provinces, totaling 129 904 volunteers, 2,480 public volunteers and 222 ROTC volunteers.
The establishment of royal kitchens in the area of 4 provinces, namely Buriram, there is 1 royal kitchen, 2 food trucks and a private restaurant at Chang Arena, Surin, 3 royal kitchens, 4 food trucks, a royal kitchen was set up at Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, Surin Campus, Mueang District, at Surin Rajabhat University, Mueang District and at the School for the Deaf, Prasat District, Sisaket, 1 royal kitchen, 3 food trucks were set up at Kantharalak Technical College. Kantharalak District, and Ubon Ratchathani Province, 1 royal kitchen, 2 food preparation vehicles set up at the Det Udom District Office, totaling rice distributed from 24 - 28 July 2025 (153,100 boxes). In addition, His Majesty the King has graciously accepted the deceased and injured from the clashes on the Thai-Cambodian border into his royal care, which is considered to be the greatest kindness.
