US President Donald Trump, who spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the phone Thursday evening, expressed his disappointment with Putin, saying he had made"no progress at all" with the Russian president.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow currently sees no chance of a diplomatic settlement of the conflict. While that would be desirable,"as long as that is not possible, we will continue our special military operation."

But air defense assistance for Kyiv?

On Friday, Trump spoke by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. They agreed to cooperate to strengthen Ukraine's air defense, Zelensky announced after the call. He asked Trump to sell Ukraine more Patriot missiles and systems.

On Wednesday, the news that the US had recently halted deliveries of key weapons systems caused great uncertainty in Ukraine and among its European allies. The delivery stop affected, among other things, the Patriot missiles, which are crucial for air defense.
