The General Directorate of Meteorology expects Morocco to experience unstable weather at the beginning of this week as a result of successive Atlantic disturbances, which will lead to rainfall and thunderstorms in a number of regions of the country, especially in the north, center and highlands, before the weather gradually stabilizes by the end of the week.

Al-Hussain Youabed, head of the communications department at the directorate, explained that the disturbances will characterize the weather situation from Monday until the middle of the week, with a clear improvement expected starting from Thursday.

Youabed told Hespress that starting from Monday, the regions of Tangier, Loukkos, Saiss, Rif, the High and Middle Atlas Mountains, as well as the northeast, are expected to experience local thunderstorms that may sometimes be strong, with the possibility of some snow falling on the peaks of the Atlas Mountains.

The central interior plains and the Mediterranean coast will also experience scattered rain under partly cloudy skies, while strong to locally strong winds will affect the northern parts of the southern regions and the mountainous and northern areas, which may contribute to stirring up sandstorms locally, according to the same source, which stated that temperatures will range from moderate to high in the south of the country and low in the highlands and high plateaus.

The same communications official added that the effects of the Atlantic disturbance will continue on Tuesday across the north and center of the Kingdom, with rain and thunderstorms expected in the northern plains, the Saïss region, the Rif Mountains, the Middle Atlas Mountains, and the northern part of the Eastern Region. These rainfalls may be moderate to locally heavy during the morning and afternoon hours, due to the interaction of moist air masses coming from the northwest with the mountainous areas.

According to the same sources, the central plains and the High Atlas Mountains will experience light to moderate rain under partly cloudy skies, with a possible improvement in conditions during the afternoon before rain returns at night. Snowfall remains possible on the peaks of the High Atlas Mountains during the night and early morning due to lower temperatures in the highlands. Winds will be relatively strong to locally strong over the High Atlas Mountains, the eastern region, and the southern provinces, potentially causing sandstorms in the interior and southern regions.

The Directorate's forecasts indicate a significant drop in daytime temperatures in the southeast, the eastern region and the south, while remaining relatively stable in the rest of the country.

Starting Wednesday, the weather will become relatively stable, although some clouds will persist over the northern Atlantic plains and the northern part of the eastern region. In the Middle Atlas Mountains and the northwestern regions, the weather will range from partly cloudy to mostly clear.

From Thursday until the end of the week, Youssef Yaouabed expects generally stable weather, despite some cloud cover along the northwest coast on Thursday. The country will also experience a slight rise in temperatures, particularly during the day, with calmer and clearer conditions prevailing.
