Venezuela is"on the verge of victory" and today,"more than ever, counts on President Trump, the people of the United States and Latin America, and the democratic nations of the world" as its most important allies, Machado continued. The Norwegian Nobel Committee in Oslo honored Machado's"tireless commitment to the democratic rights of the Venezuelan people and their struggle for a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy."

Machado is considered a unifying force in the Venezuelan opposition and a staunch opponent of the authoritarian President Nicolás Maduro, who has ruled since 2013. She had sought the presidential candidacy in 2023 but was barred from the following year's election due to alleged irregularities.

The Nobel Peace Prize is generally considered the most important political award. Trump has repeatedly emphasized in recent weeks that he himself deserved the prize, having ended seven wars within just seven months. This week, at his initiative, a first agreement was reached in the Middle East conflict between Israel and the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas.
