Former President Cristina Kirchner joined the controversy generated by US President Donald Trump's statements towards Javier Milei, and from her house arrest she used the US president's message as an explicit call to vote against the ruling party in the legislative elections on October 26.
Through her account on X (formerly Twitter), the former president quoted Trump's most forceful phrase during her meeting with Milei and accompanied it with a direct message to the electorate:"Trump to Milei in the United States: 'Our agreements are subject to whoever wins the elections.'"
Kirchner then added his own campaign slogan: "Argentines... you know what to do!" With this message, he capitalized on the US president's statement, who conditioned economic aid to Argentina—which includes a $20 billion swap—on a victory for the ruling party.
Trump had explicitly warned: "If he [Javier Milei] loses to a far-left candidate, we will not be generous to Argentina," in what was perceived as clear interference in the country's domestic politics. The former president's response seeks to transform the threat into a driving force for mobilizing opposition voters in the final stretch of the legislative campaign.
