The World's Current Take

The medium-term weather forecast has been published on the Neurje.si website. We also publish a forecast for Croatia.

The website neurje.si does not expect heat waves typical of the modern summer period until the beginning of August. The period between July 15 and August 15 is statistically the hottest in the summer. The weather in our country is influenced by events in the British Isles, which have been hit by rain. An extensive area of low air pressure is approaching the Bay of Biscay and will deepen slightly in the coming days. Scandinavia is currently experiencing a heat wave. A cyclone with a weather front will begin to approach the Alps.

According to the website's forecasts, temperatures will be slightly higher from day to day, but there will be no heat wave in the continental climate. The peak of the heat wave will be on Monday, when in some places in the east it will warm up to +35 °C with a stronger southwest wind.

As the weather front approaches, which will reach us on Tuesday night, local showers and storms will begin to form in the west in the afternoon, which will last into Tuesday night. On Tuesday, there will therefore be more variability in the morning, when the weather in our country will be affected by the departing weather front, which will move over the Balkans. The heat will subside.

A weather event marked by a new cyclone and a weather front will reach the territory of France on Wednesday. This cyclone will then slowly move towards the Alps. It is expected that the impact of the mentioned cyclone will be felt in our regions mainly on Thursday and Friday.

"One of the key factors in predicting this event is the amount of expected precipitation, which is still unknown. The uncertainty stems from an incomplete understanding of the angle at which the cyclone's trough will enter and cross Slovenia. Possible shifts of the cyclone to the north or south could cause noticeable differences in weather conditions. Thus, the question of precipitation remains open," they also wrote on neurje.si.

Weather forecast for Croatia until the end of the month

The Croatian National Hydrometeorological Service (DHMZ) also published a weather forecast for the coming days."FOLLOWING a dry June due to exceptionally high temperatures, the rest of July and the beginning of August will be warmer than average, often hot, with mostly dry weather, and large amounts of rain are unlikely," Croatian meteorologists wrote.

A change in weather is possible at the end of next week. Current forecast indicators point to an influx of colder air, which could bring a drop in temperatures and a higher chance of precipitation, especially on land, in late July and early August.

In June, according to the DHMZ indicators, extremely dry precipitation conditions prevailed in most of Croatia. On a two-month and three-month scale, the precipitation index indicated moderately dry to extremely dry conditions in central Croatia and Dalmatia. Most of Croatia was affected by moderately dry and very dry conditions. Exceptions were Istria, the far east of the country and some areas of mountainous Croatia.
