The Arab League Council at the ministerial level condemned the Israeli bombing of Doha, stressing its support for any measures taken by Qatar to protect its security and sovereignty.
The Council said in a statement that"the Israeli bombing of the Qatari capital, Doha, is a serious violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, and a blatant attack on the sovereignty and security of the sisterly State of Qatar."
The Council affirmed its absolute rejection of the attack, and that it"condemns in the strongest terms this Israeli attack as a gross violation of the sovereignty of an Arab state, a dangerous escalation, and an unacceptable violation that threatens international peace and security." It warned of "the consequences of Israeli escalation steps that put the security and stability of the region at risk."
The Council expressed its full solidarity with the sisterly State of Qatar, ensuring its stability and the safety of its citizens and territories, and supporting any measures it takes to protect its security and sovereignty.
The Council called on the international community to"assume its legal and moral responsibilities, and oblige Israel to stop its dangerous escalation in the region and its ongoing attacks on the countries of the region, and to abide by the rules of international law, international humanitarian law, and legitimate international resolutions."
Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli army announced that it had launched a precision airstrike on the Hamas leadership in Doha, noting that it had dubbed the operation"Day of Reckoning."
