Trump: I will check that it is possible to provide"Patriots" to Ukraine

American President Donald Trump said at today's NATO summit in The Hague that he will check whether it is possible to provide Ukraine with additional "Patriot" air defense systems, but he emphasized that the United States also needs them.

Trump said this in response to a Ukrainian journalist's question whether the US is ready to sell Patriot systems to Ukraine. The president first asked if he lived in Ukraine. The journalist replied that she was currently abroad with her children, while her husband remained in Ukraine. Trump then asked if her husband served in the military and was on the front lines. After receiving a positive response, the president said,"Well, that's difficult, isn't it?" before moving on to the question itself. However, he emphasized that the USA also needs such effective weapons as the"Patriot" system.

"They [Ukrainians - ed.] want to have anti-missiles, as they call them...Patriots. And we will see if we can make them available. They are very difficult to get. We need them too. We supplied them to Israel and they are very effective. One hundred percent effective - it is hard to believe how effective they are."

Routes: All NATO members committed to maintaining Ukraine in the fight against Russia

All NATO member countries, including the United States of America, are fully committed to supporting Ukraine in the fight against Russia, Alliance Secretary General Mark Rutte said today.

He told Reuters after the end of the summit of the leaders of NATO member countries in The Hague that no one in the alliance"is naive" when it comes to Russia and that all members have "more or less the same assessment".

"The American capabilities delivered to NATO will be gradually reduced as the Europeans become more active, but there will be no gaps in between, the process will be well organized," Rutte said.

Switzerland tightens conditions for Ukrainian refugees

Switzerland will accept refugees from Ukraine without lengthy administrative procedures only if they are in real danger in their homeland, and all other refugees will have to go through the asylum procedure, the government announced.

However, Switzerland still wants to coordinate with the European Union and is still waiting for consultations with the country's regional administrations. According to current plans, the measure would begin to be implemented in the fall.

The decision does not apply to Ukrainians who are already in Switzerland. A little less than 69,000 people from Ukraine with special refugee status live in that country.

Zelensky: Denmark is the first country with which Kiev starts the production of weapons for defense

Krajina President Volodymyr Zelensky and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen agreed today that Kyiv and Copenhagen will start joint production of defense weapons.

"Denmark will be the first country with which we will start joint defense production. Any country that now sincerely helps Ukraine can count on a mutually beneficial partnership with us. Let's strengthen Europe together," Zelensky said in a post on Telegram from The Hague, where he is attending informal meetings as part of the NATO summit.

He thanked Frederiksen and added that, apart from arms production, he also discussed Denmark's presidency of the EU Council and further support for Ukrainian soldiers.
