Ensenada, BC. President Claudia Sheinbaum reiterated in Ensenada what she said this morning in Vicam, Sonora, that she already has experience"with these things," referring to the public letter sent to her by President Donald Trump announcing 30 percent tariffs.

He reported that a negotiating and working table on tariff issues has been in place in Washington since yesterday, with the participation of Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard and representatives from the Foreign Affairs, Finance, and Energy ministries.

"I already have some experience with these things. We've been involved for several months, and I think we'll reach an agreement with the United States government, but it's very important that Mexicans know that we will never negotiate anything against the people of Mexico.

"We are clear about our principles. Mexico is a free, independent, and sovereign country, and we negotiate as equals, we coordinate, we collaborate, but we never subordinate ourselves. Mexico is a great country with an extraordinary people," he said.

On another note, the President inaugurated the first phase of the 23rd Regional General Hospital of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in that city on Saturday, and promised to return in a year and a half to inaugurate the second phase.

This is a 216-bed specialty hospital that will offer 120,000 consultations annually, including 46 specialties, and will serve just over 300,000 beneficiaries. The last time an IMSS hospital was built in Ensenada was in the 1960s.

At the entrances, the President met with a group of protesters who are against the expansion of the port of Ensenada to the El Sauzal area, since, they accused it of destroying the three most important surfing beaches in the state. The president then announced that dialogue will take place with the population, and that if they don't want it, it won't happen.
