Polish Government Response to Drone Incident

Regional Security and Cross-Border Drone Activity

During Russian air attack on Poland On September 10, a house in the village of Wyryki-Wola, Lublin Voivodeship, was damaged not by a drone, but by a missile fired from a Polish F-16 that was trying to shoot down the drone. This is what he writes Republic of Poland and emphasizes that the Polish Ministry of Defense is keeping this fact quiet.

It is noted that most of the 17 Russian drones found were so-called"decoys" that did not cause any damage, with the exception of one case: in the village of Wyryki-Wola near Włodawa, near the border with Belarus, where an"unidentified flying object" (as the Lublin prosecutor's office puts it) damaged a private house. The roof was damaged and the ceiling was pierced. The owner of the house survived because she managed to get out a moment before the impact.

The publication assured that after the inspection, the Lublin prosecutor's office, with the support of experts, easily identified the remains of 17 drones, but refuses to discuss what fell in Vyryky.

"At the moment, I cannot definitively say what fell on the house in Vyryky. This is the subject of an investigation, and we are waiting for the conclusions of the experts," said Agnieszka Kempka, a spokeswoman for the district prosecutor's office.

The situation was also commented on by the Lublin Voivode Krzysztof Komorski, who also, however, avoided a direct answer to the question of what kind of object fell on the house.

"Our duty is to coordinate the operation on site, while determining the actual situation, securing evidence, identifying it, establishing technical characteristics, determining when something flew in, flew out, was shot down or fell - all this is independently resolved by the relevant services," Komorsky said.

According to Rzeczpospolita, citing sources in state security agencies, a missile from a Polish F-16, which was supposed to shoot down a drone, fell on the house. It is about three meters long and weighs over 150 kg.

According to the publication, this rocket did not explode because the fuse was triggered.

"There was no explosion, no detonation, as can be seen in the photographs of the destroyed building," said Maciej Korowai, a former officer of the Military Intelligence Service and an analyst specializing in security and military strategy in Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine.

Poland shoots down Russian drones for the first time

As UNIAN previously reported, September 10 Russian drones invaded Poland Prime Minister Donald Tusk officially confirmed this and admitted that these were Russian strike drones."The threat was eliminated thanks to the decisive actions of our commanders, soldiers, pilots and allies," Tusk said.

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski rejected the suggestion that the Polish air defense system was not ready for such a development of events, given that some of the drones flew hundreds of kilometers over Polish territory, and, according to available data, only three or four out of approximately 19 devices were shot down."The drones did not reach their targets, property damage was minimal, no one was injured. If this had happened in Ukraine, by Ukrainian standards"That would be considered a 100 percent success," he said.

Yuriy Ignat, Head of the Communications Department of the Air Force Command, stated that Ukraine is ready to teach Europe shoot down drones. He emphasized that it was the Poles' business what missiles they used to shoot down drones. He also emphasized that the neighboring country did not have as much experience as Ukraine. Therefore, he said, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is ready to provide its specialists for training allies.
