The 93rd Interpol General Assembly concluded this Thursday, November 27, in Marrakech, after four days of deliberations that placed Morocco at the center of international security attention. The organizers highlighted the exceptional participation, the richness of the discussions, and the consensus that marked the end of the proceedings.

Speaking at the final session, Abdellatif Hammouchi, head of the DGSN-DGST division, recalled that the ochre city had captured the world's attention throughout this General Assembly. He indicated that this international mobilization reflected the direct impact of the Interpol General Assembly's decisions on global security and stability, and that all security institutions, in Morocco and elsewhere, were awaiting the results of this edition with particular interest.

Abdellatif Hammouchi also explained that Morocco was honored to host the 93rd session of the General Assembly, adding that the city of Marrakech was delighted to see its name associated with the informed decisions taken there. He considered that this meeting reinforced Morocco's security priorities and highlighted the ongoing efforts of the national authorities, who are committed to providing the best working conditions for international delegations and contributing to a shared vision of a safer and more stable world.

An exceptional edition in its scope and results

The Director General of National Security also emphasized that this General Assembly had been a success on all fronts. He highlighted the number of countries present, the importance of the international organizations represented, the stature of the delegations, and the quality of the resolutions adopted. “We in Morocco were convinced that this session would be a success, that it would strengthen multilateral security cooperation, and that it would serve as a starting point for facilitating bilateral cooperation between Interpol member states,” he stated.

In this perspective, we ensured optimal preparation and mobilized all necessary resources to guarantee its success, convinced that the security of Morocco and the safety of its citizens begin with the security of all Interpol member states. For security is an integrated, indivisible system, founded on equitable cooperation, mutual respect, genuine trust, and collective work.

The presence of top security officials, international experts and representatives of regional and global organizations enabled the adoption of resolutions described as innovative and advanced recommendations, tailored to current and future security challenges.

At the same time, Abdellatif Hammouchi paid a strong tribute to the outgoing president of Interpol, Dr. Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi. At the close of this session, I wish to pay a strong tribute to His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi for his remarkable efforts and commendable actions at the head of Interpol, which have allowed the Organization to occupy a prominent place on the international stage, he said.

Through his experience, wisdom and quality of leadership, he has effectively contributed to strengthening cohesion among Member States, unifying Interpol’s vision and consolidating its operational presence (...) I wish him and his team health, well-being, success and achievement in his future responsibilities, he continued.

He also congratulated Lucas Philippes, the new Interpol president, on his election. “I wish him every success in his weighty responsibilities. I assure him of Morocco’s sincere commitment to cooperate with him, in accordance with the organization’s statutes and the guidelines of national security and the Kingdom’s strategic interests,” he said.

As for the outgoing president of Interpol, Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi, he opened his speech by expressing a profound sense of gratitude and pride. He conveyed his thanks to King Mohammed VI.

You touched our hearts with what you offered us (...) Over these past few days, we have witnessed a remarkable model of professionalism and preparation. It was evident at every moment that His Majesty the King's enlightened vision had made security and stability a pillar of development and an essential basis for international cooperation. It was equally natural for us to admire this level of organization, this attention to detail, and this generous hospitality that treated each guest as a full member of the Moroccan family, he testified.

Reflecting on the proceedings of this edition, Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi noted that important decisions had been adopted to strengthen Interpol’s capacity to combat organized crime, improve information sharing, enhance international notices, and establish more advanced digital platforms. He explained that these advancements represented a collective commitment aimed at leaving a lasting mark on the architecture of global security.

The outgoing president also stated that hosting the session in Marrakech sent a message of confidence to the world. He assured that the organization would remain by the Kingdom's side to support its security and assist with all international events it organizes. Our partnership with Morocco is not circumstantial; it is a strategic relationship, founded on trust, coordination, and a shared ambition: to build a safer world for all.

May the spirit of Marrakech remain in our hearts.

When discussing the end of his four-year term, Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi emphasized that while terms end, the service of security and humanity never ceases. He thanked the member states, whom he described as the beating heart of the organization, and he praised Morocco's hospitality and the sincerity of the welcome extended to the delegations.

He concluded by stating that Marrakech would be left with the conviction that cooperation and joint work remained the surest way to build a more stable and humane world.
