"I wish these countries a long and successful future together!" Trump said, adding a photo of the leaders of the three countries.
Chinese President Xi Jinping hosted Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin this week.
The leaders spoke warmly about the relations between their countries, which are at odds with the United States (mainly over the Russia-Ukraine war and trade).
On Tuesday, Trump accused the leaders of China, North Korea and Russia of conspiring against the United States as they gathered in Beijing to watch a huge military parade.
As North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian leader Vladimir Putin stood alongside Xi Jinping at a parade marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, Trump wrote a scathing message on the Truth Social platform, addressing Xi:"Please convey my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un as you all plot against the United States of America."
CNN: Trump and Putin unanimously blame Europe for failure to achieve peace in Ukraine
As the international media reports on the White House's plans to reduce military support for Europe, CNN's Stephen Collinson says in an article published Friday that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are once again united. According to him, the leaders of these two countries are convinced that the failure to achieve peace in Ukraine is due to Europe's fault. The US and Russian presidents, he says, are simultaneously courting Europe because three weeks after their high-profile but largely ineffective summit in Alaska, efforts to end the war in Ukraine appear to have reached a dead end.
The US president (not entirely without reason) accuses Europe of buying Russian oil and, according to recent reports in The Financial Times, intends to reduce military support for Russia's European neighbors, including Lithuania, urging the old continent to take a greater role in its own defense. The Russian president, of course, also places all the blame for the"situation in Ukraine" on Europe.
“During a call with European leaders this Thursday, Trump urged Europe to do more, even as the only tangible diplomatic activity related to the war has been by the US’s transatlantic allies, who are trying to work out security guarantees to protect Ukraine after any peace deal,” notes S. Collinson.
The US president, whose actions the CNN journalist does not see as a consistent position on diplomatic measures to end the war in Ukraine, has hinted at further negotiations with Putin, but has refused to commit to imposing tough sanctions, despite Russia's continued failure to meet peace deadlines, the latest of which expires this Friday.
