Early Sunday morning, air raid sirens sounded in several cities in central and northern Israel.

Residents, including in Tel Aviv, were urged to seek shelter and at the same time there were reports of explosions in Jerusalem, writes AFP.

The Israeli military IDF stated that 25 rockets were fired at the country, according to Haaretz.

The Israeli Air Force reported via X that despite their work “to eliminate the threat” they could not guarantee that all Iranian attacks could be stopped:

"The defense is not hermetic"

, and therefore instructions from authorities must continue to be followed carefully.”

Iran's attack comes in response to last night's attacks from the US, which Abbas Araghchi, Iran's foreign minister, stated would have"eternal consequences."

The authorities announced on Sunday morning that only socially critical activities were allowed to continue. All public gatherings were banned and schools closed.

The country's airspace also closed on Sunday morning. It was unclear at the time how long the emergency measures would be in effect.

Israel responded this morning with what they call"a new wave of airstrikes" against Iranian military targets in western Iran.
