Israel announced on Tuesday the end of its military offensive against Iran, which began on June 13, after accepting a bilateral ceasefire proposed by US President Donald Trump. According to the Israeli government, it managed to neutralize the “dual threat ” of the Iranian nuclear program and ballistic missiles, and warned that it will respond to any violation of the agreement.
Trump confirmed the truce went into effect at 04:00 GMT and urged mutual respect. The announcement came after renewed clashes: Israel bombed northern Iran, leaving nine dead, while Iran fired missiles at Beerseva, killing four people. Warning sirens sounded in Tel Aviv and other cities.
Yesterday, Tehran attacked the US Al Udeid base in Qatar with missiles in response to the bombing ordered by Washington against three nuclear facilities in Iran. The international community is watching cautiously to see whether the truce will hold.
