Trump's Legal Threat

The BBC has apologized to US President Donald Trump for a program that included the insertion of parts of his speech deemed misleading and has rejected his request for compensation.

According to what was published by Cairo News Channel, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer had earlier called on the BBC to"fix its situation" after Trump threatened to sue it for $1 billion in compensation for misleadingly including excerpts from one of his speeches.

Starmer told Parliament that while he supports a"strong and independent BBC," he also believes it must "adhere to the highest standards to be accountable and correct mistakes quickly."

He added, in response to a call to urge Trump to abandon his legal threat,"When you make mistakes, you have to fix them."

Trump’s lawyers threatened the BBC with a $1 billion lawsuit on Monday, according to a letter seen by AFP, as the BBC apologized for giving the impression that the president had urged “violent action” ahead of the 2021 attack on the US Capitol.
