More than 80% of the redevelopment work on Avenue Hassan II, which runs alongside Mohammedia train station, is complete. The end of the project, eagerly awaited by residents, is now near.
On Hassan II Avenue, we have already reached nearly 80% completion, while Al-Moukawama Street is now finished, explains Hassan Bakkoury, Vice-President of the Mohammedia Municipal Council. Currently, the focus is on landscaping green spaces, with tree planting and the creation of new recreational areas. This project is part of a vast program to modernize infrastructure and enhance the urban landscape, with a budget exceeding 850 million dirhams for all the affected areas.
According to Hassan Bakkoury, vice-president of the Mohammedia municipal council, Hassan II Avenue is undergoing a comprehensive renovation: “We have widened and reinforced the road over approximately 7 kilometers, renovated the sidewalks, modernized the street lighting with LED lamps, and installed new green spaces. Benches, playgrounds, and other amenities are also planned to improve the comfort and quality of life for residents,” he added.
In parallel with these works, the municipality is carrying out a similar project on Al-Moukawama Avenue, the works of which are already completed, as well as on Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah and Zenata Avenues, which are also nearing completion.
The next steps concern Mohammed VI, Mohammed V, and Palestine Avenues, where studies are underway to widen and redevelop existing spaces. The goal is to strengthen Mohammedia's main thoroughfares, while providing residents with wider streets, safer lighting, and pleasant recreational areas.
The project also includes the development of Moulay El Hassan Park, as well as work on the Mohammedia waterfront, the extension of which is currently under study. Municipal teams are also working on repairing and restoring damaged areas along the coastline and main roads.
There is a program in place to repair the damage, and the second phase, which is currently under study, involves widening the Mohammedia promenade, he explains. This extension will improve traffic flow, pedestrian comfort, and the quality of recreational spaces along the seafront.
The pace of work is being maintained to ensure these projects are completed as quickly as possible. When finished, the city will have a new look. It will be more functional, its streets better organized, and its public spaces more pleasant. All of these initiatives reflect the municipality's commitment to tangibly improving the daily lives of residents and making the city more modern, accessible, and enjoyable to live in.
