"We see and hear that Russia is afraid that the Americans could give us Tomahawk missiles," Zelensky wrote on Telegram today, assessing that this is a sign that pressure can work in favor of peace.

The Ukrainian president did not say whether he and Trump discussed specific supplies."President Trump and I agreed that the military will take care of everything we agreed on," he wrote.

Zelensky also spoke by phone with French President Emmanuel Macron. They discussed the anti-aircraft systems that Ukraine needs to defend against Russian drones.

"Russia is taking advantage of the moment when the Middle East is in the spotlight everywhere," the Ukrainian leader warned.

Russia has been heavily attacking Ukraine's energy grid in recent days, leaving hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians without electricity ahead of the upcoming winter.

Diplomatic efforts to end the war, which has been going on for three and a half years, have meanwhile stalled.
