The actor, known for his work in the Tarantino films Kill Bill and Reservoir Dogs, has died of cardiac arrest. TMZ writes that Madsen was found unconscious in his Malibu home.

Other films Madsen has appeared in include Thelma & Louise, Scary movie 4 and Donnie Brasco.

“Michael Madsen was one of Hollywood’s most iconic actors who will be missed by many,” said his manager and publicist. “Over the past two years, Michael Madsen has done incredible work in the independent film world, including the upcoming feature films Resurrection Road, Concessions and Cookbook for Southern Housewives. He was very excited about this new chapter in his life.” Madsen was also working on a book.
