Late Wednesday evening in Riga, it was announced that Turkey had won Group A, defeating Serbia in the final match of the main tournament.
Turkey will play Sweden, who finished fourth in Group B in Tampere, Finland, in the round of 16 on Saturday.
Serbia will face Finland, the third-best team in Group B, in the round of 16 on Saturday, while Latvia will face a Baltic derby against Lithuania (A3-B2).
The Portuguese national team (A4) will face a difficult test in the round of 16 on Saturday - they will face world champion Germany (B1).
Germany has demonstrated a very convincing performance - an average of 105.8 points scored in five matches, which is the best indicator in the European Championship.
Turkey and Germany are the only teams that have not yet felt the bitterness of defeat at the 2025 European Championship.
Saturday, September 6 (Riga)
- Turkey - Sweden (12:00)
- Germany - Portugal (15:15)
- Latvia - Lithuania (18:30)
- Serbia - Finland (21:45)
The final group stage matches will take place on Thursday. In Group C, Greece and Italy have qualified for the round of 16.
In Group C, three teams still have a chance to advance to the round of 16 on the final day of the main tournament: Spain, Georgia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. All three have a 2-2 record.
Spain, the winner of the previous European Championship, is in a thankless situation, theoretically at risk of not reaching the round of 16.
If Spain ends the group stage on Thursday with a loss to Greece, while Bosnia and Herzegovina defeats Georgia, then the Spaniards will not make it to the Top 16.
In Group D, the top four have already been determined, but the distribution of places may still change: Israel (3-1), Poland (3-1), France (3-1), Slovenia (2-2).
Four round of 16 matches will also take place in Riga on Sunday, September 7. The quarterfinals are scheduled for September 9 and 10, the semifinals – September 12, and the medal matches – September 14.
If Latvia defeats Lithuania in the round of 16, then the winners of the C1 and D4 pairs will face each other in the quarterfinals.
