Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed the need for Israeli aggression to stop completely across the entire Middle East.
This came during a press conference he held on Tuesday, prior to his departure from Türkiye to the Netherlands to participate in the NATO leaders' summit.
Erdogan welcomed today's news that Israel and Iran have reached a ceasefire agreement, and called on both sides to adhere to it.
He pointed to the need for effective countries to take concrete measures to put an end to the"madness" of war between Iran and Israel, warning of its repercussions for the region and the world.
He stressed that the reckless steps taken by Israel, starting with Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and all the way to Iran, are unacceptable.
He stressed the need to reach a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip as soon as possible, halt the Israeli aggression, and ensure uninterrupted access to humanitarian aid for the Palestinians.
The Turkish president made it clear that Ankara firmly maintains its principled position, which is committed to international law and prioritizes diplomacy.
He continued,"Our region cannot bear the burden of a war whose repercussions will extend to the entire world. It is right to give diplomacy a chance to take its hands off the trigger."
Regarding the Syrian issue, Erdogan affirmed that the new administration is determined to combat all terrorist organizations, including ISIS, explaining that Türkiye will continue to provide support to them.
