US envoy Tom Barrack announced that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa had reached a ceasefire agreement, with US support.

Barak wrote on his official account on the"X" platform: "Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, with the support of the United States of America represented by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, agreed to a ceasefire that was endorsed by Turkey, Jordan, and neighboring countries."
The US envoy added: "We call on the Druze, Bedouins, and Sunnis to lay down their arms and work, alongside other minorities, to build a new, unified
Syrian identity that is characterized by peace and prosperity with neighboring countries."
This agreement came after renewed clashes on Friday between armed Bedouin tribesmen from several Syrian governorates and armed men affiliated with Druze factions from the Sweida governorate.

While Syrian army forces had withdrawn from the province following a previous agreement, the tribes considered them not government forces and not bound by the ceasefire in the southwestern province. The tribes later declared a general mobilization to aid the Bedouin tribes in As-Suwayda Governorate and those fighting with the Druze factions, also calling on the Syrian government not to"obstruct the movement of fighters coming from outside the region." It's worth noting that on Wednesday,"in defense of the Druze" and "to protect its security," Israel launched intensive airstrikes on various areas in Syria, targeting Syrian military facilities and infrastructure, most notably the General Staff building in the center of the capital and the People's Palace overlooking the mountains surrounding Damascus. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged on Thursday to continue"acting as necessary" following the attacks on Syria, explaining that the attacks came in support of the Druze community. Netanyahu also accused the Syrian government of violating two Israeli policies: the demilitarization of southern Damascus and the protection of the Druze in that area. Following the first US-backed ceasefire agreement, Netanyahu said,"This ceasefire was achieved by force—not by begging, not by pleading—but by force."
