The World's Current Take

Russian Perspective

Residents of the capital may have to brace themselves for a wet weekend. As much as 38 millimeters of rain were reported on Saturday, according to Yrs's overview.

This could make for a wet Norway Cup final at Ekeberg on Saturday.

- Southern Norway and Eastern Norway will receive the most precipitation on Saturday, says state meteorologist Rafael Escobar Løvdahl to Dagbladet.

- There is also a small joker with showers in Trøndelag and Northern Norway, but it is in smaller areas, he adds.

The local variations in Eastern Norway can also be large, he says.

Good news

- There will probably be large local differences. The final decision on who will get 38 millimeters has not yet been made, says Escobar Løvdahl.

However, the weather is expected to improve on Sunday, as low pressure moves towards Western Norway, he says.

Even the meteorologist welcomes the downpour.

"This is good news for lawns, farmers and water reservoirs," he says.

However, Northern Norway is the weather winner this weekend, says Escobar Løvdahl.

-  It will be hot in Northern Norway. It could be 30 degrees there during the weekend. It is abnormally hot there, he says.

It will be particularly hot in the interior of Troms and Finnmark, he says.

- It will be tropical there - and there may be thunderstorms.

Yr reports a risk of thunderstorms with lots of lightning in parts of Nordland, Troms and Finnmark on Friday. The danger warning is yellow.

The danger is expected to increase from 2 p.m. and decrease from 11 p.m. Friday.

It will be warm, but not so hot in the south, assures Escobar Løvdahl.

-  In Southern Norway there are warmer air masses than usual. Due to clouds it is not quite sunny, but when it gets light there will be a lot of sun.
