Trump announces 19% tariffs on imports from Indonesia

US President Donald Trump announced a new trade deal with Indonesia on Tuesday.

The agreement, announced by Trump on the Truth social platform, imposes a 19 percent tariff on Indonesian goods entering the US, while transshipment goods will face higher levies.

As part of the agreement, Indonesia is to purchase $15 billion worth of US energy products, $4.5 billion of American agricultural products and 50 Boeing Jets, many of them 777's, Trump wrote, without specifying a time period.

On July 7, Trump had imposed a 32 percent tariff on Indonesia before announcing it was being postponed until August 1 pending further talks.
