Israeli Perspective - Hamas Violated Ceasefire First

Ceasefire Status and Diplomatic Developments

Netanyahu convened a discussion with the IDF leadership to examine response measures - and alongside attacks on dozens of targets in the Gaza Strip, it was decided that the entry of aid would be halted until further notice. Israel decided this evening (Sunday) to stop the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, following the incidents in Rafah in which terrorists violated the ceasefire - and, among other things, fired on an IDF engineering vehicle. According to the Israeli decision, the halt in aid will be until further notice. The humanitarian outline in the agreement between Israel and Hamas includes the entry of 600 aid trucks daily - and they include food, medical equipment, fuel to operate essential systems, and also cooking gas.

In the Gaza Strip, attacks and deaths were also reported in the central camps - the same places where many hostages were held alive throughout the war. Later, the IDF attacked a tunnel in Khan Yunis with dozens of weapons where hostages were previously held, along with dozens of other targets throughout the Gaza Strip - mainly Hamas infrastructure. The IDF simultaneously announced that in Beit Lahiya in the north of the Gaza Strip - which is under army control - armed terrorists were identified today who approached IDF forces. Two terrorists were recorded splitting up - and were eliminated in an air strike.

Following the serious incidents in Rafah, which included firing at an engineering vehicle, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a situation assessment with the IDF leadership earlier today to examine the response measures against Hamas, and his office reported that"following Hamas's violation of the ceasefire, Netanyahu has instructed to act forcefully against terror targets in the Gaza Strip." Defense Minister Yisrael Katz also promised a forceful response, but in his statement he also signaled that Israel does not intend to bring about the collapse of the agreement, and emphasized that the reactions will intensify"if the message is not understood." A security source confirmed this afternoon that Israel does not intend to bring about the collapse of the ceasefire: "A ceasefire does not need rescuing. This is not a response that dismantles the agreement. Therefore, there is no concern about the agreement," he said."This is not an explosion of the agreement. This is cause and effect. There is a violation - there is punishment. Israel informed the US in advance before the attack." The Prime Minister's spokeswoman for foreign media also emphasized that Israel still sees itself is committed to the agreement, with the tweet"War!" from Minister Bezalel Smotrich in the background and Minister Itamar Bar Gvir's demand to return to intense fighting.
