Today, about a dozen boats with activists begin their voyage towards Gaza.

Greta Thunberg makes a third attempt to reach the strip with emergency help.

– Plan B if they stop is to come back even bigger.

Greta Thunberg speaks at a press conference before she and a large number of activists begin their march towards Gaza.

“Our goal is to send dozens of boats with emergency aid, to break the blockade and open up a humanitarian corridor,” she says.

The boats will sail from Barcelona on Sunday, under the initiative Global Sumud Flotilla. One of the boats will also include MP Lorena Delgado Varas, now a defector from the left-wing party.

This is Thunberg's third attempt to reach Gaza with emergency aid.

“Plan B if they stop us is to come back even bigger. It's that simple,” she says.

She says the goal is to stop Israel's occupation of Gaza and that the international community has failed to uphold international law and stop Israel from committing war crimes.

Got put on a flight to Sweden

In late June, the activist boat Madleen began its voyage to Gaza. The activists were stopped by Israeli military personnel before reaching port on orders from Defense Minister Israel Katz. The twelve aboard the boat were taken to Israel before being sent to their home countries.

The Minister of Defense also launched a harsh attack on Thunberg, repeatedly calling her anti-Semitic.

Greta Thunberg was then put on a flight home to Sweden. At Arlanda she was met by a large media presence and cheering supporters.

A survey of the activists at Madleen showed that one of the activists, Thiago Avila, had attended the funeral of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and met and paid tribute to Palestinian hijacker Leila Ahmed.

Yasemin Acar, a German-Kurdish activist, is said to have danced smiling in a video posted on social media when Iran carried out a major missile attack on Israel.

Both are also on this sailing trip.
