Impact on Peace Negotiations

Qatari Leadership and Domestic Response

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu never misses an opportunity to prove, every time, the validity of that immortal wisdom attributed to Imam Ali, may God be pleased with him: “If your winds blow, seize them, for after every fluttering calamity there is stillness.” Perhaps he, with his Polish origins, is the most understanding of it, and of the outcomes it may always lead to in our Arab world, which has known throughout its history - with a few exceptions - only the second half of that wisdom. After every fluttering calamity, there is condemnation and denunciation, and perhaps crying and wailing, before the matter ends in permanent stillness.

It is no surprise then that the White House issued a statement following the brutal aggression on the capital, Doha, on Tuesday, which merely described the flagrant violation of Qatari sovereignty by Israeli aircraft, which resulted in the bombing of the building where the political leadership of Hamas was meeting, as an unfortunate incident, and that it will not be repeated in a sovereign state, a close ally of the United States, which works hard and diligently in taking risks to mediate for peace. It's no surprise, not just because the statements issued by the White House didn't even include a semi-sentence of apology to the Qatari leadership for the Israeli rampage in its national airspace. Despite American confirmation that the attack was unilateral, Israel couldn't have gone to such a degree in its bullying without the explicit approval or direct support of its big brother. Who can trust Trump after what happened and the plans he's promoting to bring peace to the Middle East? Our stricken region is now on the cusp of a new phase in drawing lines of fire, after the American administration gave Israel a free hand to act as it pleases and send out dozens of fiery messages that clearly state that its military machine is capable of reaching its maximum potential and even targeting any capital in our Arab region if necessary, without any accountability or oversight from international law or the principles of respecting state sovereignty, while our Arab world is drowning in denunciation and condemnation of all its throbbing calamities.

It is, in fact, the last tango dance on the corpse of the map of the Arab world, which has been gradually disintegrating and fading, to the sound of Israeli arrogance, and the latter’s announcement on more than one occasion, its constant endeavor to declare what is called Greater Israel, which includes, at a minimum, all the historical Palestinian lands occupied in 1948, and expands to include, according to the biblical promises, the imposition of complete economic and military hegemony over the entire region, which now imposes on the Arab world, putting aside all its naive differences, and moving with the required force as a unified entity, to respond practically by dismantling that Zionist narrative, and imposing more isolation on the entity state.
