How simple and effective can it be? For now, Hamas itself is creating a major barrier to peace talks. A two-state solution was rejected by former leader Arafat at the Camp David Accords. The extent to which Hamas is willing to relinquish its position of power is questionable. Hamas's ideology remains unwavering in its commitment to the destruction of the State of Israel. Its terrorist activities, both past and present, are clear proof of this. A two-state structure will not change this unless the Western world, which advocates for it and sees it as a solution, sets explicit conditions. In the peace process, a UN army with clear mandates will have to maintain peace.
