Negative Perspective on Thompson's Concert

Marko Perković Thompson's concert at the Zagreb Hippodrome, which attracted almost half a million people, ended a few minutes after midnight. Among the attendees was Janez Janša.

The concert of the controversial Marko Perković Thompson was attended by around 505,000 people, according to the organizers, who came from all over Croatia and abroad. Since Friday, the concert has caused major chaos on the roads. Due to his past and nationalist symbolism, the event was not just a musical spectacle, but also a security and political challenge. Let us recall that his concert in Maribor was banned years ago.

The concert lasted more than three hours, and after the concert, the crowds walked home, completely blocking the Freedom Bridge and nearby streets. The visitors also left behind a huge amount of garbage, writes 24Sata.

A helicopter transported the injured person to the hospital.

According to 24sata, an emergency medical helicopter transported one man to the hospital after the concert.

In the Hippodrome area and at the emergency medical center, doctors intervened a total of 245 times. The reasons for the intervention were:

alcohol poisoning and overdose,

minor injuries,

allergic reactions,

chest pain,

loss of consciousness.

25 people were hospitalized.

Total of 123 detained persons

During the concert, 123 people were detained, 111 of whom were arrested for possession of pyrotechnics and the rest for public order violations. Police seized 121 pieces of pyrotechnics, it was reported.

The concert was also attended by SDS leader Janez Janša and his wife, which caused quite a few reactions."THOMPSON SINGS. JANŠA LISTENS. A big concert by Croatian singer Marko Perković Thompson has begun in Zagreb. And the venue is chaotic. Pyrotechnics are being set off, the police have detected numerous violations of public order and peace. Fans are leaving mountains of garbage behind, and they are also carrying Ustasha symbols. So far, 44 people have been detained and 91 pieces of pyrotechnics have been seized. Truly quality music lovers. But it is true that this is not an ordinary concert. And Thompson is not an ordinary singer. He has been a long-standing symbol of the Croatian far right. At his concerts, everyone is ready to go home, the flags of the NDH, a puppet state of Nazi Germany, are flying, and on and on images that should remain in history. And in this mass of people, united by the idea that caused Europe to bleed a good 80 years ago, in the company of the pro-Ustasha TV presenter Velimir Bujanec (who years ago was photographed in a Nazi German uniform) is also Janez Janša. Politicians, of course, know what they are doing. Where they are going. Who they are taking pictures with. Janša did not find himself at this concert by chance. He feels at home in this crowd, among these symbols, in this company. The idea of a xenophobic, supremacist Croatia is appealing to him, he would like to have it at home too. Because he is clearly – ready. Patriotic Janez gave us a clear political message. And Slovenia should take him seriously," the Institute of March 8 wrote.
