Political Reactions and International Implications

The threat of drone strikes also prompted Poland to deploy Polish and allied aircraft and close the airport in the eastern city of Lublin, three days after it shot down Russian drones in its airspace with the support of planes from its NATO allies.

Two F-16 fighter jets were raised on Saturday and citizens in the southeastern district of Tulca, near the Danube and the Ukrainian border, were warned to evacuate, the Ministry of Defense announced.

The drone traveled about 10 km inside the territory of Romania and l flew for about 50 minutes over NATO airspace, according to the statement, the Digi 24 portal reports.

The planes followed the drone to the Kilija Veka area about 20 km from the border, after which the drone disappeared from the radar.

German Eurofighter units also took part in the operation, following the second drone near the border, but without entering Romanian airspace.

Alert in Poland too

Recall, Polish and allied air forces were deployed on Saturday in a"preventive operation" in Polish airspace due to the threat of drone attacks in neighboring areas of Ukraine, and the airport in the eastern Polish city of Lublin was closed, authorities said.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk also spoke about this.

" Due to the threat posed by Russian drones operating over Ukraine near the Polish border, Polish and allied aircraft have been deployed in Polish airspace as a preventive measure. Air defense systems from the ground have been put on the highest alert level", he said in a post on the"X" platform.

The Operations Command of the Polish Armed Forces announced on Saturday evening that the operation of the Polish and Federal Air Force in Polish airspace has ended.

"Today, ground-based air defense systems and tracking radar were activated and returned to standard operational functions. The Polish military continues to monitor the situation on the territory of Ukraine and remains on constant alert to ensure the security of Polish airspace," said a statement published on Platform X.
