Lithuania defeated Sweden with a score of 74:71 (14:21, 19:18, 21:14, 20:18) before the upcoming round of 16 match in Riga.

The victory celebrations were overshadowed by the injury suffered by Lithuanian starting defender Margirs Normants, who sprained his ankle in a collision with an opponent.

Previously, the final tournament ended for Roks Jokubaitis due to injury, and Tadas Sedekerskas and Marek Blaževičs were also absent from the field on Wednesday.

For the winners, Jon Valančūns scored 18 points (2p 7/11, free throws 4/4), grabbed nine rebounds, stole two balls and blocked two shots.

Arnas Veličkas had 14 points and seven assists, Gītis Radzevičs had 13 points, and Ažuols Tubelis had 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Pelle Läšssons scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Swedes, Tobias Borg had 13 points, and Simon Birgander had ten points.

Lithuania led for only 11 minutes in this match, while Sweden had a lead of at least one point for 26 minutes and 26 seconds.

During the match, the Lithuanians managed to come back from -12.

All four round of 16 teams in Group B are known - Germany has four wins in four games, Lithuania has four wins in five matches, Finland has three wins in four duels, Sweden, Great Britain and Montenegro have one win each in five games.

The European Championship final tournament will feature 24 teams in four groups in late August and early September in Riga, Tampere, Katowice and Limassol. The top four teams from each group will qualify for the play-off tournament in Riga, with the medal winners to be determined in the first half of September. The round of 16 will feature teams from Groups A and B, as well as Groups C and D.
