Poland's Defensive Actions

As the LETA agency was informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the diplomatic note the Latvian side reiterates the demand to end Russia's aggression against Ukraine, withdraw occupation forces from all internationally recognized Ukrainian territory and compensate for all losses suffered by Ukraine as a result of Russia's aggression. Latvia also protested against the violations of Polish airspace by Russian drones on Wednesday, September 10.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that on Sunday, September 7, more than 800 drones and 13 different types of missiles hit residential buildings, schools, kindergartens and other civilian infrastructure in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities. One missile hit the Ukrainian government building. The Russian attack killed two civilians, a young mother with a baby, and at least 16 more people were injured. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, September 9, an air strike in the village of Yarov in eastern Ukraine killed 24 residents who were waiting for their monthly pension, and almost twice as many were injured.

"With these terrorist actions, Russia demonstrably rejects international peace efforts to end Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, and also proves that its imperialist and aggressive goals have not changed," the Foreign Ministry emphasizes.

It has already been reported that several Russian attack drones entered Polish airspace on Wednesday night, and those that posed a direct threat were shot down. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the country's airspace was violated 19 times and that at least three drones were shot down.
