(Beijing/Seoul=Yonhap News) Correspondent Jeong Seong-jo, Reporters Kwon Su-hyeon and Kwon Sook-hee = North Korean Chairman Kim Jong-un, who is visiting China, finished his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the afternoon of the 4th (local time) and headed to Beijing Station to begin his return trip.
At around 9:50 PM that day, Chairman Kim's ceremonial motorcade entered Beijing Station, and about 15 minutes later, at around 10:05 AM, Chairman Kim's special train, 'Train No. 1', was captured by Yonhap News leaving Beijing Station.
This comes about two hours after Reuters, citing state-run China Central Television (CCTV), reported at around 7:50 p.m. that Chairman Kim had left the Great Hall of the People in Beijing after concluding his meeting with President Xi.
Immediately after state media reported that the North Korea-China summit had concluded, security authorities began blocking pedestrians around the Beijing Railway Station barrier, and security was significantly raised about 30 minutes before Chairman Kim's motorcade arrived at the station.
Immediately after Chairman Kim's train left Beijing Station, police also began withdrawing from the scene.
Chairman Kim is expected to arrive in Pyongyang on the afternoon of the 5th.
Earlier, Chairman Kim held a summit meeting with President Xi at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing that afternoon.
The meeting between Chairman Kim and President Xi is the first in six years, following two meetings during Chairman Kim's visit to China in January 2019 and President Xi's visit to Pyongyang in June of that year.
Chairman Kim, who left Pyongyang by train on the 1st to attend China's 80th Victory Day celebrations and arrived in Beijing on the 2nd, made a splendid debut on the multilateral diplomatic stage by observing a military parade with President Xi on the 3rd.
Then, on the afternoon of the 3rd, he held a bilateral meeting at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse for 2 hours and 30 minutes, and his 5th visit to China concluded with the bilateral meeting with President Xi that day.
