Critical of Hugo Motta

247 -  Federal deputy Rogério Correia (PT-MG) presented a representation to the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies requesting the precautionary removal and subsequent revocation of the mandate of Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), for his conduct during the session of August 6, 2025. The complaint accuses Nikolas of leading an occupation of the Board of Directors in an act that Correia classified as an “anti-democratic riot”.

According to the PT congressman, the episode symbolizes yet another chapter in the"continued coup" strategy promoted by far-right sectors in the National Congress."All the congressmen who participated in the mutiny aimed at hijacking the Chamber and Senate, that is, the National Congress, to challenge the democratic process and continue this far-right strategy of continued coup, must be punished," he declared.

The complaint details the behavior of Nikolas Ferreira, who allegedly broadcast live during the occupation, defying direct orders from the Speaker of the House and inciting supporters to a reaction against the regular functioning of Parliament."You want to revoke our mandate? Screw it!" Nikolas said in one of the live broadcasts, as recorded in the document presented by Rogério Correia.

The Workers' Party member also highlighted the Minas Gerais congressman's stance as"a leader or spokesperson for the group," accusing him of contempt for democracy and attempting to subvert the institutional order."He acted like a leader or spokesperson for the group, positioning himself as the leader while simultaneously hosting livestreams, challenging people, and saying that even if he could lose his mandate, it doesn't matter to him. He disdained democracy, disdained the president's power, and said he would only leave after the amnesty was approved," Correia stated.

Other lawmakers were also cited by the Workers' Party representative, including Zé Trovão, Marcel Van Hatten, and Representative Júlia Zanatta. The latter, he said, allegedly used her own four-month-old son as a"shield" to prevent legislative proceedings from resuming."They even temporarily prevented President Hugo Motta from sitting at the table," he added.

as a precautionary measure provided for in the Code of Ethics and the Chamber's Internal Rules, in addition to the initiation of disciplinary proceedings in the Ethics Council, which could result in the revocation of his mandate."In this sense, I am requesting that he also be included in the list of those who, in my understanding, should be immediately suspended for 60 days [...] and, at the same time, that his case be referred to the Ethics Council for review of the revocation of his mandate," he argues.

The legal brief argues that Nikolas's actions, in physically resisting and ignoring orders to clear the floor, constitute a serious disciplinary infraction. Furthermore, it classifies the livestream broadcast as public incitement to an"anti-democratic rebellion," stating that such conduct goes beyond the right to freedom of expression and undermines the institutional integrity of the Chamber.
