This Slovenian victory set the final standings in Group D with France finishing first, Poland second, Slovenia third, and Israel fourth. In the event of a victory, the latter team would have taken first place.

The score was still tied at the start of the second half (26:26), but Slovenia soon scored nine unanswered points and built a double-digit lead (43:31). It soon grew to 15 points.

If the Spanish win, Italy will take first place in Group C, if the Greeks - second. One of the hosts of the championship, Cyprus, has already finished its performance.
