A 16-year-old was arrested at his home in the Caballito neighborhood of Buenos Aires after an FBI alert warned of a possible school bomb threat. The international warning led police to raid the family home, where several replica firearms were seized.

The operation, which lasted approximately nine hours, began on Friday at 7:00 a.m. According to reports, the young man had posted a message on the social network X (formerly Twitter) that raised concerns due to its content. After the search, the teenager was taken to the police psychiatric unit and later transferred to the Ricardo Gutiérrez Children's Hospital, where he remains hospitalized under medical observation.

The mother's statement

Following the publicity surrounding the case, the young man's mother released a statement on social media explaining her version of events and asking for calm regarding what happened. "The situation got out of hand because the FBI alerted them to his post on X," the woman stated, clarifying that"any possibility of an attack has been ruled out." She also indicated that the justice system and mental health professionals "are addressing his safety."

Regarding the seized weapons, he explained that they were replicas used for playing Airsoft. “The weapons that were seized are from a sport called Airsoft, which uses electric replicas and which my son played a few years ago,” he stated. He emphasized that “they were all in my apartment office and were not within reach of my children.”

The mother also mentioned that her son is undergoing psychological treatment with a specialist who sees him several times a week. “It’s for depression, and they were going to run tests this week to start him on medication,” she added. She also stated that “there’s no danger at all; he’s being monitored at the hospital and there’s no police presence because it was confirmed that he poses no risk to anyone.”

Finally, he assured that the goal now is to support the teenager in his recovery: “Now we are here to support him and help him get better,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the investigation continues under the jurisdiction of the Buenos Aires courts to determine the true extent of the minor's posts and to assess his mental health.
