Ursula von der Leyen had a telephone conversation on Wednesday with Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine.

The topics discussed were the next steps towards a long-lasting peace with Russia, Ukraine's accession to the EU, but also the reconstruction of the country.

"We discussed the next steps towards a negotiated peace agreement and Ukraine's future accession to the European Union, as well as its reconstruction," reads the official announcement published by Ursula Von der Leyen on Thursday afternoon on X.
