The activist, along with Ada Colau, leaves Barcelona this afternoon on a flotilla to Gaza.

Actors Liam Cunningham and Eduard Fernández support the action from the Catalan capital.

Swedish activist Greta Thunberg said this Sunday in Barcelona, shortly before the departure of the Global Sumud Flotilla to Gaza, that more and more people are waking up to Israel's atrocities. Speaking at a press conference with other activists and celebrities who support the initiative, she added that the most important thing is not the flotilla's mission, but how the world can remain silent and fail to respond to the oppression of Palestinians. The flotilla will have more than 20 boats and 300 people.

She believes Israel is very clear about its genocidal intent and has expressed fear at how people can continue their lives as if nothing is happening in the face of a genocide broadcast live, according to her. For Thunberg, there is no alternative to this, and she explained that she is participating in a mission again after being detained by Israel a few months ago.

Irish actor Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones) also said that the people of Gaza are the most important thing, and used a video to remember a Palestinian girl killed by Israel a few days ago. Irish comedian and writer Tadhg Hickey also spoke out, saying that civilians wouldn't have to plan these kinds of missions if the Irish government acted in concert with other governments.

Catalan actor Eduard Fernández has stated that he is speechless about Gaza, which he has described as a mirror that reflects everyone, whether they like it or not. Each boat that sets sail for Gaza is a cry for dignity and a reminder that the sea should not be a jail or prison, he added.

One of the organizers of the Global Sumud Flotilla, Thiago Ávila, has said that the mission of the flotilla to Gaza is the whole world against genocide.

He also stated that any attack against the delegation would be a war crime and that they are confident of breaking the blockade, in statements to the media along with Saif Abukeshek and Mohamed Nadir Al-Nuri, also organizers of the flotilla."We truly believe we will break the blockade; we have more ships than in all previous missions combined," Ávila pointed out.

It's not just a boat mission, we're articulating a global mass movement, he said, noting that there have already been missions that have broken the blockade. He also added that oppressive regimes believe they are invincible until they are defeated.

Sif Abukeshek, also the flotilla coordinator, stressed that the focus is not on them:"We are not the heroes." He accused the Israeli state of creating a famine in Gaza, which he believed was intentional."We are not here to save the Palestinians," Abukeshek said, adding that all people living under occupation have the right to decide how to respond.

In this regard, he took the opportunity to thank Barcelona for its cooperation, a city he said is a benchmark in this struggle. The third of the organizers, Mohamed Nadir Al-Nuri, stated that this day marks the beginning of an independent Palestine, and also called on everyone to play their part in this mission.
