"On the night of August 23, 2025, after completing a combat mission, Major Sergey Viktorovich Bondar, a pilot of a MiG-29 fighter jet, died while landing," the statement said.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine added that the causes and circumstances of the disaster are being investigated.

Earlier, UNIAN reported that Ukraine had lost a fighter jet. It crashed on the evening of July 22, 2025. According to the Air Force, the pilot acted professionally, as befits a crisis situation, and successfully ejected. No one on the ground was injured either.

Meanwhile, on the night of June 29, 2025, while repelling an occupier attack at night, F-16 pilot Lieutenant Colonel Maksim Ustimenko, born in 1993, died.

The Air Force said the pilot used all of his weapons and shot down seven air targets. While engaging the last of them, his plane was damaged and began to lose altitude.
