We held and are still holding a Hungarian Day in Washington, announced Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who spoke at a press conference at the Hungarian Embassy in Washington about the ongoing negotiations at the ministerial level. The Hungarian Prime Minister also said that Trump did not just express his respect and appreciation for Hungary out of diplomatic courtesy, but that his praise also had real content, as he knows and recognizes, for example, those Hungarians who have done a lot for America.

Orbán and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó appeared before Hungarian journalists after holding working lunches with US President Donald Trump and his delegation at the White House. The first stage of this negotiation was public, as we reported in our article below:

Regarding the tone of the negotiations, Orbán said that the leaders of two allied countries had discussed each other and had not found a single significant issue where the two countries had different opinions. However, there were matters to be resolved, the most important thing in this regard is that the reduction in utility bills was protected, and Hungary will continue to have the lowest energy prices, because we were exempted from all kinds of American sanctions affecting the Friendship and TurkStream natural gas pipelines coming through Turkey, Viktor Orbán announced.

We have received a full exemption from sanctions. There are no sanctions. This is a general exemption with no time limit.

Later, Tamás Cs. Király, a reporter for the pro-government Ultrahang YouTube channel, asked Orbán if this meant that Lukoil and other companies' products could also come through the two pipelines, since the American sanctions did not apply to the pipelines, but to the companies. To which Orbán simply replied: yes. He then added:

That's why it's an art, we made an offer that they could easily accept, but at the same time the benefit for us is incalculable. Anything can come through that wire.

We have also reached an agreement with Westinghouse on nuclear issues, Viktor Orbán announced, and then, in response to a question from Ildikó Csuhaj, Péter Szijjártó essentially confirmed Bloomberg's previous information on this matter. Orbán then added that negotiations are also underway to conclude a five-year contract for LNG transport, the details of which are still being worked out.

An agreement was also reached on small nuclear reactors, and new laws will be passed in parliament next week to implement this.

Sanctions regarding Paks II were also discussed during the talks, and the Americans will abolish them as they are, Orbán said.

The sanctions affecting the expansion of the nuclear power plant were imposed by the Biden administration, and were suspended by the Trump administration in the summer, but only until the end of the year, so its fate has remained uncertain to this day.

Orbán also spoke about the United States' interest in Hungary's financial stability, which is why they are developing a new form of Hungarian-American financial cooperation, although he did not elaborate on what exactly this is, saying that negotiations in this area are still ongoing.

New American investments will also arrive, and a military and space industry agreement has been signed - we have not learned many details about this either, as these are still being negotiated, the Prime Minister revealed.

The issue of war and peace was also discussed, they talked about it at length, but according to Orbán, the essence of the conversation can be summarized in two sentences. Peacemaking must continue, both governments are determined in this regard, Hungary specifically offers its capabilities to help achieve peace - the first is. And the second is that the Trump-Putin summit in Budapest is on the agenda, as soon as the conditions for this arise, this meeting will take place, although no one knows the date for this yet.

Orbán did not mention the issue of Hungarian-American double taxation, and it later turned out, not coincidentally, that when asked, he confirmed that this was not discussed during Friday's hearing.
