California Governor and Trump rival Gavin Newsom says he is considering running for president in 2028. A final decision will come after the midterm elections next year.
In a CBS interview Sunday, Newsom was asked if he was considering putting his name on the hat.
– Yes, I would be lying if I said otherwise, replied the 58-year-old, who has stood out as one of the strongest and most outspoken Trump critics among the Democrats.
Newsom has been governor of California since 2019 and will step down in 2026 after serving two terms.
Earlier this weekend, it was announced that former Vice President Kamala Harris is not ruling out running for president in three years. Harris was the Democratic presidential candidate for 104 days in 2024, after then-President Joe Biden withdrew from the campaign.
