Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has decided to award US leader Donald Trump the Order of the Nile in recognition of the American president's contribution to conflict resolution, including his role in ending the war in the Gaza Strip, the president's representatives noted.
The Order of the Nile was established in Egypt in 1915 to be awarded to both the people of the republic and citizens of other countries for services to Egypt. It has been awarded to Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, the 125th Emperor of Japan, Akihito, the leader of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, the First Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee, Nikita Khrushchev, and Soviet cosmonauts Yuri Gagarin, Andrian Nikolayev, and Valentina Tereshkova.
