In Sancheong, Gyeongnam alone, 8 people died and 6 people went missing due to landslides. In Gapyeong, Gyeonggi, 2 people died and 4 people went missing due to heavy rain, and authorities are conducting a search.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCHQ) and the National Fire Agency, as of 11:00 AM on the 20th, there were 14 deaths and 12 missing people due to the extreme rain that fell across the country over the past five days.
By region, the death toll is 1 in Osan, Gyeonggi Province, 2 in Gapyeong, 2 in Seosan, Chungcheongnam-do, 1 in Dangjin, and 8 in Sancheong, Gyeongsangnam-do. The missing persons are 2 in Buk-gu, Gwangju, 4 in Gapyeong, and 6 in Sancheong.
As rescue and emergency operations are ongoing, the number of casualties may change in the future.


Facility damage also increased, with 1,920 cases of damage to public facilities, including road flooding, soil erosion, and river facility collapse, and 2,234 cases of damage to private facilities, including flooding of buildings and farmland.
The number of residents who fled due to the recent heavy rain was tallied at 9,694 households and 13,209 people in 14 cities and provinces and 90 cities and counties.
As heavy rain continued and weather worsened, 58 flights were disrupted.
From the 16th to 5:00 AM on this day, the total accumulated precipitation by region was 793.5mm in Sancheong (Sicheon), 699.0mm in Hapcheon (Samga), 621.5mm in Hadong (Hwagae), 600mm in Changnyeong (Docheon), 584.5mm in Haman, 578.3mm in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, and 552.5mm in Damyang (Bongsan, South Jeolla Province).
As of 10 a.m., the accumulated daily precipitation by region was 197.5 mm in Gapyeong, 178.5 mm in Uijeongbu, and 154.5 mm in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, with heavy rain concentrated in the Gyeonggi area.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters forecasted,"There will be rain in the metropolitan area and Gangwon Province today, and showers will fall in some inland areas from the late afternoon to the evening."
