The Warsaw court's decision not to extradite a Ukrainian man involved in the Nord Stream gas pipeline bombing to Germany means Kyiv has the right to attack Russian targets within the European Union. Hungarian Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated this in an interview with the Sunday Times.

This court decision means that Ukraine can act within the framework of international law, defending its interests and attacking targets linked to Russia anywhere in Europe, he said.

On October 17, a Polish court ruled against the extradition of a Ukrainian citizen suspected of blowing up the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines and released him from custody.

Szijjártó called the decision on the person accused of blowing up the Nord Stream pipeline scandalous

Politics / International Relations

Tusk had previously stated that Poland had no intention of extraditing the defendant. According to him, the country's cabinet had always opposed the construction of pipelines. The attack occurred on September 26, 2022, in the exclusive economic zones of Sweden and Denmark. As a result of the explosions, only one line of Nord Stream 2 survived, but Germany did not permit its commissioning.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó stated on October 17 that a Polish court's decision to refuse to extradite a Ukrainian accused of blowing up the Nord Stream pipeline to Germany allows terrorists to commit similar crimes in Europe.
