After American pop singer Taylor Swift announced her engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce, President Donald Trump took the opportunity to bless the couple's union."I wish them the best of luck," Trump said from his White House office."I think he's a great player, I think he's a great guy," the president said when asked by the press."I think she's a terrific person. So I wish them the best of luck."
The singer had supported Kamala Harris in the last presidential election. At the time, Harris was serving as vice president and was Trump's main opponent at the polls.

This sparked a series of reactions online, as the Republican president has previously stated that he"hates" Taylor Swift."I hate Taylor Swift!" Trump wrote on social media in September of last year.
“Has anyone noticed that since I said ‘I hate Taylor Swift,’ she’s not ‘popular’ anymore?” she commented on another occasion, via a tweet on her Truth Social account.
The president's enmity arose because Swift supported the opposing party. Before former President Joe Biden's departure from the presidency, Trump said the singer would not be able to vote for the Democrat's reelection."I signed and was responsible for the Music Modernization Act for Taylor Swift and all other musical artists," the political leader posted on Truth Social."Joe Biden did nothing for Taylor and never will. There is no way I could support corrupt Joe Biden, the worst and most corrupt president in the history of our country, and be disloyal to the man who made her so much money."
This Tuesday, August 26, the acclaimed couple announced their engagement through a post on their Instagram profiles. There, they shared a series of loving photos, in which the NFL player is seen on one knee, another in which they are seen together embracing, and another photograph of the ring, which has a large sparkling diamond.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” was the joking message with which the couple publicly shared the important news about their future.
Taylor Swift and her boyfriend Kelce, both 35, announced their relationship in 2023. Since then, they have been seen together at multiple of the artist's concerts and at several NFL games, where the player is part of the Kansas City Chiefs team.
