247 - In a post on X, intellectual Elias Jabbour harshly criticized the Nobel Peace Prize and the selection of political figures such as Maria Corina Machado. Jabbour highlighted what he considers to be a"complete moral bankruptcy of the West," citing the awarding of the prize to individuals who, in his view, promote violence and armed intervention in sovereign countries. The thinker's criticism is a reaction to the hypocrisy behind the award, especially at a time of extreme violence in Gaza, where thousands of civilians are being victims of a silent genocide.

"The most shocking thing isn't that a fascist who advocates for foreign armed intervention in her country wins the Nobel Peace Prize. This is happening in the midst of a genocide unfolding live, with the passivity of those who judge who wins such an award," Jabbour stated. The intellectual also questioned the legitimacy of an award that, in his view, validates fascism amid the imperialist crisis. For him, the choice to award individuals linked to war agendas is yet another reflection of the moral bankruptcy of the major Western powers, especially in times of conflict.

Jabbour expanded his criticism by asserting that the West, in its decline, has relied on fascist forces as a means of maintaining power."The validation of fascism by the Norwegian and Swedish Academies is a leap into the abyss of the West's moral bankruptcy," he wrote.
