Specialized personnel from the Mexico City Attorney General's Office reported that the explosion that occurred last Wednesday in the area of the Puente de la Concordia in Iztapalapa, which has so far left ten people dead and 74 injured, was caused by a fuel leak resulting from a ruptured tank caused by the overturned tanker.
He also ruled out that the overturning of the heavy vehicle was a result of damage to the asphalt, because"no potholes were found at the scene of the accident."
This Friday, personnel from the prosecutor's office, the traffic engineering department of the Citizen Security Secretariat, and the insurance company for the tanker owned by Transportadora Silza conducted an inspection at the scene of the accident.
Meanwhile, the capital's prosecutor's office reported that it is making progress in its investigation into the rollover and explosion of an LP gas tanker.
The investigation involves expert personnel specializing in forensics, land traffic, mechanics, chemistry, fires and explosions, industrial safety, plumbing, video, and photography, who are gathering technical reports to clarify the facts.
According to initial reports,"the gas tank's cap ruptured after colliding with a solid object, allowing the gas to escape and ignite."
During the collection of evidence, residues of aromatic compounds such as benzene and styrene were also identified.
In the images collected during the inspection at the scene of the accident, the prosecutor's office found no potholes or damage to the asphalt, according to the visual evidence added to the investigation file.
