United States President Donald Trump said on Friday that his patience with Russian leader Vladimir Putin was almost over, but stopped short of threatening new sanctions over the war in Ukraine.

When asked on Fox News if his patience with Vladimir Putin was running out, Donald Trump replied:"Yes. It's running out, and it's running out fast."

In a discussion on the show, the president explained that he had had a good relationship with Vladimir Putin for a long time, but expressed dissatisfaction with his lack of action regarding the war.

"We're going to have to take very, very tough action," Trump said, according to Reuters.

Donald Trump stated that sanctions against banks and oil remain a possibility, as do customs duties, but he stated that European states must also be involved in this whole endeavor.

"But I've already done that. I've done a lot," Trump said.

The president also made a clarification on the subject, namely the fact that India, one of the main buyers of Russian oil, is targeted by a 50% tax on exports to the United States.

"It's not an easy thing to do. It's a big issue and it's causing a rift with India. And remember this, this is Europe's issue, much more than ours," Trump said on "Fox & Friends" on Friday.
