US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin's announcement of the successful test of the Burevestnik (Storm) intercontinental ballistic missile was"inappropriate." TASR reports this, according to an AFP report.
"He should end the war (in Ukraine). The war that was supposed to last a week is now approaching its fourth year. That's what he should be doing instead of testing missiles," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One.
Successful test of the Burevestnik missile
Putin announced on Sunday the successful test of the Burevestnik intercontinental ballistic missile, which is capable of carrying nuclear warheads, and said the missile had"unlimited range."
The Russian Chief of the General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, said the missile was tested on October 21, flew 14,000 kilometers and was in the air for about 15 hours. He said the Burevestnik was nuclear-powered and the Russian military chief said no air defense systems could shoot it down.
Promises to end the war in Ukraine
Reuters recalls that before returning to the White House in January, Trump promised to quickly end the war in Ukraine. However, despite his efforts, mediated talks between Russia and Ukraine have not progressed.
