A Russian drone crashed into a family home in the village of Wyryki in the Lublin Voivodeship on Tuesday night, Polsat News reports. According to police, the incident caused damage to the roof of the building and a car parked on the property.

"No one was hurt," Sub-Inspector Andrzej Fijolek from the Regional Police Headquarters in Lublin confirmed to the polsatnews.pl portal.

The mayor of the Włodawa district, Mariusz Zańko, said the circumstances of the incident were still unclear:"We do not know whether the drone itself hit the house and damaged the roof and ceiling, or whether the damage was caused by fragments of the drone." He added that local residents heard an explosion and saw Polish fighter jets over the area."The situation is quite complex and worrying, there is great unrest among the residents," he said.

According to Zańko, district office workers are on site, tasked with quantifying the material damage.

Drones were found in several places

Russian drones or their remains have been found in several places in eastern Poland, reports the Gazeta Wyborcza daily.

One of the damaged drones was found by Polish police at around 5:40 a.m. today in the village of Czosnówka, which lies near the border with Belarus."It's a small object, there was no fire, there is no danger," a fire service spokesman told TVN24.

According to the local prosecutor's office, parts of another drone were found near a cemetery in the village of Cześniki in southeastern Poland, near the Ukrainian border, Reuters reports.

The Polish military has urged residents not to approach, carry or touch any drone debris if it is found. Police are on alert in the Podlaskie, Lublin, Podkarpackie and Mazowieckie voivodeships.

The airports in Warsaw, Modlin near the Polish capital and Rzeszow were temporarily closed overnight and into today due to drones, as was the airspace around Lublin airport in the east of the country of 38 million. Warsaw airport said it was necessary to expect flight delays during the day.

The incident occurred during a massive Russian drone attack on Ukraine, during which unmanned aircraft repeatedly violated Polish airspace. The operational command of the Polish Armed Forces described the situation as an"act of aggression that created a threat to the safety of citizens." Some of the drones were shot down, according to the military.

The Government Security Center (RCB) also responded to the danger, issuing warning messages for three voivodeships - Lublin, Podkarpackie and Podlaskie. The authorities urged residents to immediately contact security forces and report their location if they find debris or drones.

Act of aggression

The Polish military described the violation of the airspace of the Republic of Poland, which occurred on Wednesday night, as"an act of aggression that created a real threat to the safety of citizens." The military said this in a statement that it also published on social networks. The AFP agency also quoted it.

"As a result of today's attack by the Russian Federation on Ukrainian territory, there was an unprecedented violation of Polish airspace by drones. This is an act of aggression that created a real threat to the security of our citizens," the operational command of the Polish Armed Forces reported.

The army – according to the Onet.pl website – specified that, on the orders of the operational commander of the armed forces, defensive measures were immediately initiated, with Polish and allied forces monitoring several dozen objects using radar. Those objects that could pose a threat were neutralized. Some of the drones that violated Polish airspace were shot down. The search for these objects and efforts to locate them continue.

According to Tusk, the number of drones was large

Polish airspace was violated by a large number of Russian drones overnight, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed this morning at X. Those that posed a direct danger were shot down, he also said, adding that he was in constant contact with allies and NATO Secretary General Marek Rutte.

Allied aircraft also took off today to protect the Polish airspace.

"This is the first case where Russian drones have been shot down over the territory of a NATO country, so all allies are taking the situation very seriously," the Gazeta Wyborcza daily quoted Tusk as saying before an extraordinary government meeting.

"There is no reason to panic. We will inform citizens about all events," the Prime Minister noted. According to Reuters, he also said that the situation seemed to be under control. He also stressed that Poland was ready to respond to attacks and provocations.

According to him, the incident did not result in any deaths or injuries.

According to an alliance source told Reuters, six to ten Russian drones violated Polish airspace, marking the first time that allied forces have intervened in a violation of a member country's airspace.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that about eight drones were heading towards Poland. In total, Russia has sent about 415 drones of various types and more than 40 cruise missiles and ballistic missiles to Ukraine.
